Introduction to Temperature Blankets: A Year in Yarn (Two Part Class)

Adult Enrichment -
Adult Winter 2026
Class 1 / (Saturday, February 7, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm): Have you ever wanted to turn a whole year of weather into a beautiful, meaningful keepsake? In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn how to create a temperature blanket — a unique project where each row represents the temperature of each day in the year using a color-coded system.

We’ll cover the basics, including:
What a temperature blanket is and how it works
Choosing your color palette and assigning temperatures
Yarn and stitch recommendations (crochet or knit)
How to track daily temperatures and stay on schedule
Tips for customizing your blanket for a season, milestone year, or location
Whether you're new to crafting or a seasoned yarn enthusiast, this class will inspire you to start a project that grows with the year — and wraps you in memories. By the end, you'll have all the tools and confidence to begin your own temperature blanket journey!
No prior experience needed. Just bring your creativity and love for cozy crafts!

Class 2 / (Saturday, March 7, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm):  Already started your temperature blanket and ready to take it to the next level? This follow-up class is designed for those who attended the Introduction to Temperature Blankets or have begun their project and want continued guidance, inspiration, and support.

In this class, we’ll focus on:
Troubleshooting common challenges (uneven rows, color changes, tension)
Creative ways to add flair (borders, special rows, embellishments)
Catching up if you’ve fallen behind — and realistic strategies for staying on track
Adjusting for leap years, missed days, or changing your original plan
Ideas for incorporating milestones, weather events, or personal memories
This session will include hands-on help, Q&A time, and opportunities to share your progress with fellow makers. Whether you’re a little behind or right on schedule, this class will help you stay motivated and make your blanket truly one-of-a-kind.
Bring your work-in-progress and any questions — we’ll help you keep those stitches moving!

April Rogers

Hi! I’m April Rogers. I’ve been teaching myself to crochet for several years, but it really became a passion about a year ago. What started as a relaxing way to keep my hands busy has grown into a deep love for creativity, color, and handmade design. As a nurse, I’ve always enjoyed helping others—and now I get to share that same joy through crafting. There’s something so rewarding about turning a simple ball of yarn into something beautiful and unique. Whether you’re picking up a hook for the first time or looking to learn new stitches and techniques, my goal is to make crocheting fun, easy to learn, and inspiring for everyone!
