The bitcoin network launched over 15 years ago, and by now nearly everyone has heard of bitcoin. But because of its novelty in how it combines computer code and economics, few understand how it works. And thus, they don’t know how to evaluate it. In this talk, Dr Bradley Rettler will explain how bitcoin works and then offer a framework for evaluating it — not in terms of whether it’s a good financial investment, but in terms of whether it’s good for the world.
Dr Bradley Rettler is the founding Director of the Bitcoin Research Institute and Professor of Philosophy at the University of Wyoming. He is an author of Resistance Money: A Philosophical Case for Bitcoin, as well as The Problem of Divine Personality and peer-reviewed articles on bitcoin, metaphysics, philosophy of religion, and epistemology.
