Hooray for Pie-Nedale!
Adult Enrichment -
Adult Winter 2023
"Warm up your ovens and your belly while you learn the fool-proof basics of pie dough making, pie construction, and pie baking so you can bust out a pie of any kind with ease! Students will learn to make traditional pie dough and gluten-free pie dough. The class will guide students on making both pie doughs, apple and blueberry pie fillings, how to construct a pie in a pie tin, and a basic lattice top crust. Students will take home one ready-to-bake 8" apple pie and two to four 4" mini blueberry pies they will bake in class. If you have them, please feel free to bring your own pie tins, rolling pins, pie crust shields, bench scrapers, and aprons."
Kerry is a professional conservation biologist who began honing her baking skills in 2017 while she lived in the Death Valley region and had to spend more time indoors to avoid the blazing hot daytime conditions of the Mojave. She moved moved to Pinedale in early 2019 and currently resides in the Upper Green where she bakes in the challenging conditions that come with living at 8,000 feet above sea level. Kerry practices many different aspects of baking and dessert making and enjoys impressing her friends and family with bakes that appear to be advanced (but are actually quite simple with a little practice and patience!). Her baking skills include making pies, sweet and savory tarts, French pastries, the occasional loaves of bread, and cake making and decorating."
